My name is Angela, and I’m just a woman who likes to read books. My whole personality is reading, running, Formula 1, coffee, and not being the cool mom! I also love making videos, creating content, all things colorful, and socks. I’m here to talk about books!
I’m not a book expert, so I won’t talk heavily about themes, imagery, or whatever the “booksperts” talk about. I’m a casual, fun reader who wants to share that experience with you.
Favorite genres:
I have a problem with the way genres are now. Why do we have women’s fiction? Why can’t it just be fiction? Romance is still a fantasy novel. I digress. Here are some of my favorite genres.
I enjoy great fiction books like The Storied Life of AJ Fikry and Young Adult Thrillers such as A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. I have learned to love historical fiction, such as Lessons in Chemistry or Carrie Soto Is Back. Thrillers are great, but I figure them out before the twist happens. A few have taken me by surprise! I am a sucker for a hockey romance like Icebreaker. My love for a hockey romance is a recent addition to my life, and I’m not ashamed of liking a smutty romance book. But many non-fiction books have changed my life, such as The Happiness of Pursuit: Finding the Quest, which will bring purpose to your life, and Atomic Habits.
The truth is, I like books, and I’m not tied to any genre, except that I’ll never read a horror book. I suffer from an overactive imagination.
Why I’m not bookish:
I don’t read book synopses. I might read a line or two, but I enjoy going into books blind. I might be the true definition of judging a book by its cover. I listen to other people’s recommendations and go with the flow.
I rarely DNF a book; it’s a problem, I know. Life is too short to read books you don’t like. I wait too late for DNF, so if I’m halfway through a book, I will finish it.
I love going to the bookstore to look at the books, but I’m mostly a Kindle reader. The only books I own are books I know I love. I’m trying to curate a library to share with friends.
